(57) [Summary]nA specific peptide nucleic acid (PNA) probe for detecting sexually transmitted diseases caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Chlamydia trachomatis, which amides glycine nitrogen, which binds to a natural or non-natural nucleobase by a methylene carbonyl linker. Probes containing N- (2-aminoethyl) glycine units having during binding and said probes capable of hybridizing to 16S or 23 rRNA or rDNA of Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Chlamydia trachomatis are described. PNAs are very stable molecules with very high affinity for nucleic acids, allowing PNA probes to be shorter than conventional nucleic acid probes. |
