(57) [Summary]nAttachment of Haemophilus influenzae to human cells, such as oropharyngeal cells, can be inhibited by natural human β-casein, recombinant forms of human β-casein and their hydrolysates. Human β-casein or hydrolyzate can be included in liquid enteral nutritional products such as artificial formula milk. The enteral nutritional product can be used, for example, for the prevention and treatment of otitis media in infants and young children. Human β-casein or hydrolyzate may be administered as a throat spray or nasally using drops or sprays. |
