titleOfInvention Purification of alkane sulfonyl chloride and its corresponding alkane sulfonic acid
abstract (57) Abstract: A method for purifying an alkane sulfonyl chloride for providing an alkane sulfonic acid having an extremely low sulfuric acid content. SOLUTION: Alkanesulfonyl chloride (ASC) A method for purifying an alkane sulfonyl chloride to reduce the sulfate content of the alkane sulfonyl chloride, wherein the alkane sulfonyl chloride is contacted with a washing solution selected from water or an aqueous solution of an acid having a pH from -0.57 to 7, Wherein the alkanesulfonyl chloride is separated from the washings in which most of the sulfates have been dissolved and purified by causing a reduction in the sulfate content of the alkanesulfonyl chloride thus treated.
