abstract (57) [Problem] To provide an adsorbent which exhibits excellent deodorizing ability at a high adsorption rate even to various alkaline gases. SOLUTION: The activated carbon for adsorbing alkaline gas is characterized in that the activated carbon is a phosphoric acid-supporting activated carbon obtained by carbonizing and activating an organic compound in the presence of a phosphorus component. This activated carbon for adsorption is produced by reacting an organic phosphorus compound with an organic compound reactive therewith to prepare a phosphorus component-containing activated carbon precursor organic substance, and then calcining and carbonizing and activating it. .
