titleOfInvention Binder for foundry sand
abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder for molding sand which is free from harmful gases such as volatile organic compounds generated at the time of mold production and pouring, and which is not restricted in usable time at the time of mold production. . SOLUTION: Instead of a conventional thermosetting resin such as a phenol resin and a furan resin, polyvinyl alcohol containing 0.05 mol% of a silanol group and a water-soluble polymer having two or more carboxyl groups in one molecule. The mixture of compounds was added in an amount of 0.2 to 5% by weight based on the molding sand.
