titleOfInvention Ultrasonic transducer and osteoporosis diagnostic apparatus using the ultrasonic transducer
abstract (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To ensure that an acoustic lens is focused on a measurement site. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic transducer 11 emits an ultrasonic beam pulse toward a cortical bone of a subject, and the ultrasonic beam pulse reaches the cortical bone via an acrylic acoustic lens and a water bag, and is reflected and returned. Receiving the coming bone echo. After the received signal is converted to a digital echo signal, the CPU Reference numeral 28 detects an echo level, and a timing circuit 31 measures the arrival time of the bone echo from the emission of the ultrasonic beam pulse to the reception of the bone echo. The CPU 28 calculates the distance between the acrylic acoustic lens and the cortical bone surface based on the measured bone echo arrival time, and controls the focal position adjusting mechanism 14 based on the calculated distance and the known focal length of the acrylic acoustic lens. By controlling, the water bag 13 is expanded and contracted to focus on the surface of the cortical bone, the maximum echo level is extracted from the echo levels detected in this state, and the acoustic impedance of the cortical bone is calculated.
