abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aliphatic polyester copolymer having practically sufficient mechanical strength and flexibility as a molded article and having excellent biodegradability, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: (A) An aliphatic dicarboxylic acid (such as succinic acid), an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid ester (such as succinic acid ester of ethylene glycol) and an aliphatic dicarboxylic anhydride (such as succinic anhydride). At least one member selected from the group consisting of (B) an aliphatic diol (ethylene glycol ) And (C) hydroxycarboxylic acid (lactic acid or the like) in a molar ratio of (A) and (B) of 1: 1 to 1: 3, 0.01 in the presence of a catalyst (such as tetrabutyl titanate) Under a reduced pressure of 22 mmHg, copolymerization is carried out while flowing an inert gas (such as dry nitrogen gas) into the reaction solution. And (B) are 80 to 95% by weight, and (C) is 5-2. 0% by weight and a weight average molecular weight of 30,000 to 30 000 aliphatic polyester copolymers are obtained.
