abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a biodegradable plastic having a weight average molecular weight of 50,000 used in food packaging films, beverage bottles, drug delivery systems, and the like. An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing zero or more polyhydroxycarboxylic acids. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a poly (meth) acrylic acid which is obtained by subjecting a mixture mainly composed of hydroxycarboxylic acid or its lactide obtained by distilling hydroxycarboxylic acid or its oligomer to dehydration polycondensation in the presence of a polycondensation catalyst. Provided is a method for producing a hydroxycarboxylic acid.
