abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is easy to manufacture and has excellent viewing angle characteristics, a method of manufacturing the same, and a method of driving the same. In a liquid crystal display device in which a liquid crystal layer is sandwiched between two substrates (23, 33) and two or more types of minute regions coexist in the liquid crystal layer, an electrode having an opening (24) on at least one of the substrates (23). The second electrode 25 is provided at the position of the opening. The rising direction of the liquid crystal molecules 11 is controlled by applying a voltage equal to or higher than the voltage applied between the electrode 22 having the opening 24 and the electrode 32 facing the second electrode 25 to the electrode 32 facing the second electrode 25. This allows A liquid crystal display device that is easy to manufacture and has a wide viewing angle can be obtained. Further, by dispersing the polymer compound in the liquid crystal, the rising direction of the liquid crystal molecules is fixed. |
