abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adding a single catalyst containing a metal and having high polymerization and hydrogenation activity for the production of a hydrogenated ring-opening metathesis polymer. SOLUTION: As a catalyst for the polymerization step, a compound of the general formula (I) Wherein R 1 , R 2 , X 1 , X 2 , L 1 and L 2 have the given meanings, from a cyclic olefin to a hydrogenated ring-opening metathesis (co) polymer using a ruthenium-carbene complex Wherein the catalyst is optionally modified by adding a modifier after the polymerization, and the polymerization product is treated (by the same inert solvent as during the polymerization or Optionally diluted by another inert solvent) As a solution, 0 ℃ ~ 200 without addition of extra hydrogenation catalyst There is provided a process for hydrogenating at a temperature of 2 DEG C. under a hydrogen pressure of 2 to 200 bar, wherein at least 60% of the olefinic double bonds are saturated.
