titleOfInvention Dry heat virus inactivation under controlled moisture conditions
abstract (57) [Summary] [Problem] To provide a virus-free blood product. SOLUTION: A lyophilized sample of a protein composition having a predetermined water content is prepared to render the biologically active protein composition substantially free of virus, and the composition is pasteurized under pasteurization conditions. Determine the minimum or threshold water content that will result in at least a 3.2 log 10 reduction in virus titer when heated to, and then maintain the biological activity of the protein while still maintaining the viral titer Heating the sample under pasteurization conditions that will result in a reduction of at least 3.2 log 10 of the sample.
