abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode active material for an alkaline storage battery comprising composite particles in which the surface of nickel hydroxide particles is entirely or partially coated with a chemically precipitated cobalt compound, Provided is a positive electrode active material capable of performing high-density filling in a paste state by increasing the adhesion of a compound and the apparent density of composite particles. SOLUTION: The cobalt compound coating layer adheres to the surface of the nickel hydroxide particles with a higher adhesive force than the state after the deposition and has a dense structure.
