PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer coating film by applying a middle coat layer on a polyester-based thermosetting coating composition, especially electrodeposition coating, baking and curing, and then applying a top coat layer. The present invention provides an intermediate coating composition used for: SOLUTION: A hydrophilic polyester containing (a) polyalkadiene diol or a hydrogenated product thereof and (b) 2,2-bis (hydroxymethyl) alkanoic acid as a polyhydric alcohol component forming a polyester chain. A resin is dissolved or dispersed in an aqueous medium containing a neutralizing base together with a curing agent. In addition to satisfying the coating workability and coating film performance required for the intermediate coating, the storage stability of the coating and the water resistance of the coating are improved. |
