titleOfInvention | Flexible polyurethane foam and method for producing the same |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the compression strength / compression characteristics of a flexible polyurethane foam so as to achieve a behavior similar or the same as a flexible latex foam, and achieve a mid-range compression strength of 2.5 to 4.0 kPa. To produce flexible polyurethane foam. SOLUTION: A) a polyisocyanate or a polyisocyanate prepolymer, B) a specific blend of isocyanate-reactive compounds, C) water, D) an optional blowing agent, E) A process for producing flexible polyurethane foams, optionally by reacting with activators, stabilizers and other additives known per se. Particular blends B) of the isocyanate-reactive formulations comprise: i) at least one polyether polyol having a functionality of 2.5 to 6.0; At least one polyether polyol having a functionality of from 8 to 2.5; and iii) at least 1 having a functionality of from 1.8 to 6.0 and having an EO content in the polyether chain of at least 50% by weight. Including polyether polyols. The flexible foam produced according to the present invention is characterized by having a high bulk density and a moderate compressive strength. |
