titleOfInvention Bandwidth management method and device
abstract (57) [Problem] To provide a bandwidth management method capable of efficiently and accurately managing a required bandwidth for a wide range of traffic characteristics and causing no division loss. According to the bandwidth management method, in a communication device for temporarily storing packets from an input link and then transferring the packets to a predetermined output link, the communication device is provided for a packet flow and needs to be based on a predetermined algorithm based on a packet arrival characteristic. It is necessary to select at least one of a plurality of processing means for obtaining a band, and to satisfy communication quality of a certain value or more when a packet arrival characteristic of a packet stream associated with the selected processing means changes. The packet arrival characteristics are changed by obtaining the respective band changes, selecting one of the obtained changes, and adding this change to the total sum of the required bandwidths of all the currently held packet flows. In this case, a total sum of a new required band required for the communication device to satisfy the communication quality of a certain value or more is obtained.
