abstract (57) Abstract: Provided is a separator capable of reducing the internal resistance of an electric double layer capacitor using an organic solvent as an electrolyte. SOLUTION: The separator 11 is composed of an aggregate of cellulose fibers whose surface is modified with an organic solvent. With this configuration, the wettability of the cellulose fibers to the electrolyte 16 is improved, and the permeability of the electrolyte 16 to the separator 11 is improved. Thus, the internal resistance of the electric double layer capacitor 1 can be reduced.
