abstract (57) Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a method for isolating an active ingredient from neem, which is a plant useful for controlling hyperacidity and gastric ulceration. SOLUTION: A step of preparing an aqueous extract from a part of neem and separating undissolved impurities, lyophilizing the obtained extract to form a powder, together with a predetermined solvent. Extracting the lyophilized powder, subjecting the extract to HPLC on a reverse phase column capable of separating molecules with different hydrophobicities, and the maximum absorption of UV at 280 nm containing phenol glycosides. A method of isolating an active ingredient which is a phenol glycoside, comprising the steps of separating the fractions resulting from the indicated column and freeze-drying the obtained eluate to form a powder of the phenol glycoside.
