(57) [Abstract] [Purpose] The excess reactivity that increases with increasing burnup can be controlled appropriately without impairing the core characteristics, and the economical efficiency of the initially loaded core can be improved. [Structure] The reactor core has an average enrichment of 3.7% by weight, and a highly enriched fuel assembly 10 having a stainless steel channel box 14 accounts for 45%, and an average enrichment of 3.7% by weight. And 45% of high-enrichment fuel assemblies having channel boxes made of zirconium alloy, and 1 low-enrichment fuel assemblies having average enrichment of 1.3% by weight and having channel boxes made of zirconium alloy.
