Process for producing mono- and di-cyanopyridine-N-oxides |
abstract |
(57) Abstract: A method for oxidizing only a pyridine nitrogen without hydrolyzing a cyano group of a mono- or dicyano-pyridine compound to obtain a mono- and dicyano-pyridine oxide. SOLUTION: Mono- or di-cyanopyridine is selected from hydrogen peroxide or performic acid, peracetic acid, perbenzoic acid, and perphthalic acid in an aqueous solvent in the presence of an oxyacid and a metal oxide. Reaction with a peracid to produce mono- or di-cyanopyridine-N-oxide. |
