abstract | (57) [Abstract] [PROBLEMS] To provide a method for measuring the denitrifying activity of denitrifying bacteria without directly measuring the concentration of nitric acid or nitrite. According to this measuring method, a fixed amount of at least one nitrogen oxide selected from nitric acid, nitrous acid and salts thereof is added to a system 3 in which denitrifying bacteria and its substrate are present, and the nitrogen oxide is added. In the method for measuring the denitrification activity of denitrifying bacteria by measuring the time from the point of addition of the nitrogen oxide to the point of disappearance of the nitrogen oxide, the ORP meter 6 measures the disappearance of the nitrogen oxide.
