(57) Abstract: To provide a recording material excellent in water resistance, chemical resistance, running property and manufacturing suitability. A thermosensitive recording material having a color-forming layer on a support, the color-forming layer containing at least a substantially colorless color-forming component A and a substantially colorless color-forming component B that reacts with the color-forming component A to form a color. Syndiotacticity is 55 mol% or more and saponification degree is 85 mol% according to the diamond display on the layer. The above polyvinyl alcohol is contained. In the recording material having a protective layer on the layer together with the color forming layer, At least one of the color-developing layer and the protective layer contains polyvinyl alcohol having a syndiotacticity of 55 mol% or more and a saponification degree of 85 mol% or more as indicated by a diamond. Among these polyvinyl alcohols, ethylene-modified polyvinyl alcohol having an ethylene modification rate of 20 mol% to 1 mol% and a saponification rate of 85 mol% or more is particularly preferable. |
