titleOfInvention | Diode-pumped laser with an ignition lens crystal |
abstract | (57) Summary A high power, high efficiency laser is disclosed that produces a polarized circular, diffraction limited Gaussian beam. The ellipticity adjusted ignition lens laser crystal (24) is pumped by a diode light source (18) connected to a fiber bundle (22) mounted on a laser head (10). The diameter of the pump beam in the crystal is larger than the TEM 00 mode diameter of the crystal. Lasers work well with a wide range of pump powers. The slope efficiency of TEM 00 mode is more than 40% and the overall efficiency is more than 25%. One of the laser crystals used is Neodymium YVO 4 . This material exhibits high gain and short upper level lifetime. These properties make neodymium YVO 4 convenient for constructing Q-switched lasers and lasers that are insensitive to optical feedback. |
