titleOfInvention | Continuous aminolysis method for ethylene copolymers. |
abstract | (57) [Summary]n(A) a polymer melted in a reactor containing structural units made from an alpha-olefin having 2 to 8 carbon atoms and an α, β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, and (b) an amine-containing compound , (C) a liquid phase comprising an alkylamine having an alkyl group containing 1 to 30 carbon atoms, ammonia, or a derivative thereof, in the presence of (c) a catalyst which is a metal-containing solution in an amount effective as a catalyst. A continuous aminolysis process for polymers made from ethylenically unsaturated structural units, which comprises contacting in a reactor for less than about 1 hour effective to make a polymer containing structural units. The process is carried out continuously in a reactor, preferably in at least one reactive extruder, under conditions effective to obtain an ethylene copolymer containing acrylamide structural units. |
