titleOfInvention Wireless digital sync diversity receiver
abstract (57) [Summary] A digital receiver (10) for receiving an RF signal includes a conventional RF / intermediate frequency (IF) converter (14). However, the IF signal is amplified with restrictions on its amplitude (20). In addition, a received signal strength (RSSI) signal is generated (28). The RSSI signal contains the envelope information of the modulated IF signal. The IF amplitude limited signal containing the phase information is then digitized to produce a complex baseband signal (68). The complex baseband signal is then combined with the RSSI signal to recover the amplitude information of the modulated IF signal in the complex baseband signal. The reconstructed complex baseband signal is equalized by a conventional equalizer (70) to remove intersymbol interference. A conventional code detector (80) detects the code in this signal stream.
