titleOfInvention | Optically transparent hydrophobic coating composition |
abstract | (57) [Summary]nThe optically clear hydrophobic coating composition has, in the presence of water, a plurality of hydrolyzable side groups selected from the group containing alkyl, aryl or alkoxy groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. It is manufactured by mixing fluorinated polysiloxane, polysiloxane, polyester-modified polysiloxane, acid, and alcohol. The polysiloxane components are mixed and blended. The acid and alcohol components are mixed together and mixed with the polysiloxane component. The polysiloxane component undergoes hydrolysis and polycondensation / polymerization reactions to produce a fluorinated polyester-modified polysiloxane polymer, which when applied on a substrate surface, cures at ambient temperature and is durable. Form an optically transparent hydrophobic protective coating that is weather resistant, chemical resistant, and heat resistant. |
