abstract | (57) Summary A heat sealable polyamide film or layer comprises: (a) at least one pendant side chain alkyl having 1-3 carbon atoms in at least two amide bonds along the polymer backbone, and (b) ) At least one sequence of at least 7 sequential carbon atoms in at least two amide bonds along the polymer backbone, except for carbon atoms in the pendant alkyl side chains, if any. Moreover, the heat-sealable film or layer comprises (a) (i) at least one pendant alkyl side chain having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms in at least two amide bonds along the polymer backbone and (ii). And at least one sequence of at least seven sequential carbon atoms in at least two amide bonds along the polymer backbone, excluding carbon atoms in the pendant alkyl side chains, if any, and ( b) at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of a polyamide, a vinyl polymer, a graft-functionalized C 2 to C 20 α-olefin polymer, an ethylene / ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer, and an ionomer.
