(57) Summary The absorbent article has a first liquid-permeable carrier layer and at least one second carrier layer. A water sensitive attachment mechanism secures the carrier layers to each other to form substantially attached and non-attached areas. The substantially unattached area forms a plurality of pocket regions within which highly absorbent material is disposed to form an absorbent laminate. A second attachment mechanism secures the carrier layers to each other along the selected second attachment area to form a substantially water-insensitive joint therebetween. The second attachment area is limited to a location remote from the pocket area. |
