abstract | (57) [Summary] A method for calculating the coagulation characteristics of blood, a blood fraction or a control sample (513) is to generate an output signal (501) representative of the coagulation of the sample and to set a predetermined time. While sampling the output signal (501) at a predetermined sampling rate and outputting a plurality of sampled signal values, storing the sampled signal values (500), and storing the sampled signal values. Rectifying a sampling signal value (604) to output a plurality of envelope values (503), and storing (606) the envelope values (503). The stored envelope values (503) are verified in reverse temporal order to determine the slope of the envelope (503) at each of the stored envelope values (503). All of the relative maximum values of the stored envelope value (503) are specified. The range of stored envelope values (503) corresponding to each relative maximum is determined. The identified relative maxima are compared (732, 734, 736, 738) to find the absolute maxima at the stored envelope values (503). A coagulation characteristic is calculated from the stored envelope values within a predetermined range of envelope values corresponding to the absolute maximum. |
