titleOfInvention Silver-based contact material, use of this kind of contact material in power switchgear and method of making this contact material
abstract (57) [Summary] A material based on silver-iron oxide is proposed as a substitute for silver-nickel that has been often used in practice, especially for contact pieces in low-voltage switchgear. According to the invention, a material of this kind contains, as another active ingredient, one of the oxides of the metals of the third sub-group, which is in particular provided with yttrium oxide (Y 2 O 3 ). For example, a material having a composition of Ag / Fe 2 O 3 10 / Y 2 O 3 satisfies the characteristics required for the contact characteristic spectrum due to its advantageous temperature behavior. It may also contain at least one of the metal oxides containing an element of the sixth subgroup of the periodic table, preferably felberite (FeWO 4 ). The material of the composition Ag / Fe 2 O 3 9 / Y 2 O 3 1 / FeWO 4 0.5 is particularly effective due to its additionally improved welding and short-circuit behavior.
