abstract | (57) Abstract: A radio broadcast receiver that forms a message suitable for a voice synthesis circuit from control data is configured to be able to perform announcement notification for a language that has not been incorporated so far. A control circuit 7 extracts a phonetic transcription composed of phonetic symbols from control data. The voice synthesis circuit 14 converts a predetermined number of phonetic symbols into announcement notifications. A storage device 28 for storing a specific phonetic symbol that cannot be converted by the voice synthesis circuit 14 is provided. A replacement code is assigned to each phonetic symbol that cannot be converted, and this replacement code is a phonetic symbol that can be converted by the speech synthesis circuit 14. The control circuit 7 retrieves the phonetic symbols that cannot be converted and the assigned replacement code from the storage device 28 and supplies the replacement code to the speech synthesis circuit 14. |
