abstract (57) Abstract: An ester of a phenolic compound suitable as a modifier or curing agent for epoxy resin is provided. In a method for esterifying a phenol compound by reacting a phenol compound with a carboxylic acid chloride or a carboxylic acid anhydride, the reaction is carried out in the presence of an alcohol and an alkali metal hydroxide. The method for esterifying a phenolic compound according to claim 1, wherein 0.3 to 2.0 moles of carboxylic acid anhydride or anhydride is used per 1 mole of phenolic hydroxyl group, and the alkali metal is 0.8 to 0.8 mole per 1 mole of phenolic hydroxyl group. Use 2.0 mol, It is used in an amount of 30 to 300% by weight based on the total weight of alcohol.
