(57) [Abstract] [PROBLEMS] To obtain a magnetic recording medium with which good electromagnetic conversion characteristics can be obtained even when high density recording is achieved. SOLUTION: A non-magnetic layer is formed as a lower layer 4 and a magnetic layer is formed as an upper layer 2 on a non-magnetic support 1, and a multilayer coating structure is formed, and the thickness of the upper layer is regulated to 0.5 μm or less. In addition, the major axis length of the lower non-magnetic powder is 0.05 ˜0.2 μm acicular inorganic powder is included. |
