abstract | (57) [Abstract] [Problem] To share a writing light source and a reading light source, It enables downsizing of the device and reduction of power consumption. A liquid crystal image forming apparatus 50, a spatial light modulator 90, and an optical element for separating a part or most of light having a spectrum sensitive to a photoconductive layer of the spatial light modulator 90 from a light source 11. Of the remaining light source light from which a part or most of the light having a spectrum sensitive to the light source unit 10 and the photoconductive layer is separated, visible spectrum light is extracted and is applied to the spatial light modulator 90 as read light. The projection optical unit 110 that projects the reflected light of the spatial light modulator 90 with respect to the read light as the display light on the screen 130, and a part or most of the light separated from the light source and having a spectrum sensitive to the photoconductive layer.
