abstract (57) Abstract: In a fluorescence detection device, a variation in fluorescence intensity depending on a distance between an excitation light irradiation unit and a fluorescence reception unit and a living body observation unit is corrected without causing a calculation error. SOLUTION: Excitation light L1 is applied to a living body observation unit 10 from excitation light irradiation means 1. Fluorescence L3 emitted from the living body observation unit 10 Is guided to the fluorescence detecting means 3 and the fluorescence detecting means 4 by the condensing optical system 2. By separating and detecting the fluorescence L3 into a desired wavelength region, the fluorescence detection means 3 causes the fluorescence component in the relatively short wavelength region or the fluorescence component in the relatively short wavelength region and the fluorescence component in the relatively long wavelength region to fluoresce. The difference component is extracted, and the fluorescence detecting means 4 extracts the fluorescence component or the fluorescence sum component in the entire wavelength region. The division unit 5 performs division based on the outputs of the fluorescence detection unit 3 and the fluorescence detection unit 4, and displays the division result as image information on the display unit 6.
