SOLUTION: An exhaust gas purifying material comprising a porous inorganic oxide carrying 0.2 to 15% by weight (in terms of a metal element) of one or more elements and / or compounds selected from the group consisting of silver and silver compounds. Wherein the porous inorganic oxide is tin oxide alone, or alumina, titania, silica, zirconia, A composite or mixed oxide of at least one selected from the group consisting of zinc oxide, magnesium oxide and zeolite and tin oxide.
