(57) Abstract: A novel and stable liquid crystal or mesophase-forming compound which is suitable as a component of a liquid crystal medium, and has at least a relatively low viscosity and stability to elevated temperature and UV radiation at the same time. And a stable liquid crystal medium having a wide mesophase range, favorable numerical values relating to dielectric and optical anisotropy and very good low temperature behaviour. SOLUTION: A difluorovinyl ether compound represented by the general formula I and a liquid crystal medium comprising the same: In the formula, R, A, X and m are as defined in claim 1. |
