(57) Abstract: A genus of Pseudomonas, a genus of Burkholderia, or an Alcaligene capable of producing R-β-hydroxybutyric acid. s) A method for producing R-β-hydroxybutyric acid, which comprises culturing a microorganism belonging to the genus or the like in a nutrient medium and collecting R-β-hydroxybutyric acid from the culture. [Effect] R-β-hydroxybutyric acid with high optical purity can be directly produced from inexpensive carbohydrates by fermentation using microorganisms. |
