abstract | (57) Abstract: A method for producing a nickel positive electrode active material for alkaline batteries, which is capable of suppressing self-discharge. The method has a production step of producing nickel hydroxide and cobalt hydroxide by adding an alkali metal hydroxide to a reaction system containing nickel ions and cobalt (II) ions. During or before the production process, It has at least one means for removing an oxidant that oxidizes cobalt (II) ions to cobalt (III) ions. As a means for removing the oxidizing agent, for example, a reducing agent such as L-ascorbic acid is added to the reaction system to reduce and remove the oxidizing agent. The oxidizing potential of the reducing agent is preferably lower than the reducing potential of oxygen. Further, it is preferable to have a means for removing cobalt (III) ions during or before the production step. |
