(57) Abstract: A method for industrially producing naphthalenedicarboxylic acid containing very few methylnaphthoic acid and formylnaphthoic acid from a crude naphthalenedicarboxylic acid obtained by oxidizing dialkylnaphthalene is provided. . SOLUTION: A crude naphthalenedicarboxylic acid obtained by oxidizing a dialkylnaphthalene is dissolved in an aqueous solution of an aliphatic amine, and the solution is brought into contact with a Group VIII metal in an inert gas atmosphere, and then the aqueous solution. The amines are distilled off by heating. |
