titleOfInvention Method for plugging end faces of ceramic honeycomb structure
abstract (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a plugging method capable of tightly and easily sealing the end face of a ceramic honeycomb structure. [Structure] A step of introducing an expansive substance that burns and decomposes in the firing step into the non-occluded through holes of the ceramic honeycomb structure, and the end portions of the through holes that are not clogged by expanding the expansive substance. A plugging method comprising a step of temporarily sealing and then a step of filling an end portion of a through hole to be plugged with a sealing material. In this method, the end of the through hole can be easily and tightly sealed because the expansive substance that burns and decomposes is temporarily sealed.
