abstract (57) Abstract: To provide a means capable of measuring the bone metabolic activity of a vitamin D derivative in vitro. Kind Code: A1 A transcriptional regulatory region of the human osteocalcin gene, which contains a vitamin D responsive sequence and a promoter sequence of the osteocalcin gene, and a structural gene functionally linked to the downstream of the transcriptional regulatory region and encoding a detectable compound. A recombinant vector containing the same; a mammalian cell line transformed with the recombinant vector of the present invention, in which the production of a compound encoded by the structural gene is increased by the action of vitamin D; A method for measuring bone metabolic activity of a vitamin D derivative, which comprises adding a D derivative and measuring a compound produced by the cell and encoded by the structural gene.
