(57) 【Abstract】 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably vitrify waste containing radioactive iodine at a high volume reduction ratio. SOLUTION: Radioactive iodine is separated from radioactive waste containing radioactive iodine in the form of silver iodide, and then the separated silver iodide and vitrifying material are mixed and heated to melt, and the melt is cooled and solidified. This gives a homogeneous vitrified body. [Effect] Since only radioactive iodine can be separated and concentrated from the waste contaminated with radioactive iodine, the amount of solidified products managed as iodine-containing waste can be greatly reduced. In addition, the obtained vitrified product is homogeneous, hardly cracks, and has a low solubility, so that it has a high ability to trap radioactive iodine. |
