abstract |
Kind Code: A1 Abstract: A novel copolymer of unsaturated acid reactant and vinyl terminated atactic propene polymer (VTPP) and its use in fuels and lubricant additives. The VTPP has a major amount of polymer chains containing terminal vinyl unsaturated groups, a number average molecular weight of at least 500, and at least 70 weight percent propene and C 2 olefins and C 4 to C. It comprises 0 to 30 weight percent of at least one olefin selected from the group consisting of 10 olefins. The unsaturated acid reactant comprises at least one unsaturated C 4 to C 10 Includes carboxylic or dicarboxylic acids or anhydrides. Effective to form the atactic VTPP copolymer with at least one nucleophile selected from the group consisting of amines, alcohols, metal reactants and mixtures thereof to form adducts of the nucleophile and the copolymer. Contacting under various conditions produces the oil-soluble dispersion additive of the present invention useful for use in oily compositions. |
