titleOfInvention Refractive index adjusting method, refractive index adjustable optical waveguide, and method of manufacturing refractive index adjusting optical waveguide using the optical waveguide
abstract (57) Abstract: A self-preserving type refractive index adjusting method and a refractive index adjusting method that easily adjusts the refractive index of an optical waveguide and does not require any energy to maintain the obtained refractive index. To provide a possible optical waveguide and a method of manufacturing a refractive index adjusting optical waveguide using the optical waveguide. At least one of energy beam irradiation, voltage application, current application, heating, cooling, pressurization, pressure reduction, magnetic field application, and impregnation or doping of a substance to at least a part of a core or a clad of an optical waveguide. An organic compound whose refractive index can be changed by performing one operation is provided. The refractive index of the organic compound is changed by performing at least one of the above operations. The organic compound is provided in the core and / or the clad of the optical waveguide to prepare an optical waveguide whose refractive index can be adjusted, and at least one of the above operations is performed to obtain the refractive index adjustable optical waveguide.
