abstract (57) [Summary] [Structure] After completion of the esterification reaction, 0.1 to 0.5 mol of the dihydroxy component relative to the dicarboxylic acid component is additionally added to the esterification reaction vessel, and the melting point of the prepolymer is not less than the boiling point of the dihydroxy component. A method for producing polyester, which comprises stirring or allowing the mixture to stand in the following temperature range for 3 to 60 minutes, and then transferring it to a polymerization vessel to carry out a polymerization reaction. [Effect] The amount of terminal carboxyl groups can be reduced.
