(57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a compound useful for surface modification of a metal, particularly for surface modification of an aluminum flake pigment. Also provided are methods for surface-modifying metallic flake pigments with this compound and compositions containing surface-modified metallic flake pigments. The compounds according to the invention are nitro-substituted polymeric compositions. The polymeric compound contains a nitro-containing substituent that interacts with the pigment, a hydrophobic substituent and a terminal hydrophilic substituent. |
