abstract (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a binder composition for producing a mold, which has a fast curing rate. [Structure] This binder composition is obtained by polycondensing furfuryl alcohol, urea and aldehydes as main components. Weight% furfuryl alcohol (A) and weight% unreacted furfuryl alcohol in the binder composition The difference [AB] of (B) is 5.0 to 60.0. The binder composition contains 0.5 to 63.0% by weight of an effect accelerator such as 2,5-bishydroxymethylfuran or 2,5-bismethoxymethylfuran. Further, the water content in the binder composition is preferably 6.0% by weight or less, and the nitrogen atom content is preferably 0.5 to 4.0% by weight. The binder composition contains a curing agent composition in which the weight ratio of phosphorus atoms and sulfur atoms represented by [sulfur atom content / (phosphorus atom content + sulfur atom content)] is 0.01 to 0.7. When used in combination, it is preferable because it produces less toxic gas.
