Quinolone derivatives as dopamine D4 ligands |
abstract |
(57) [Summary] A compound of the type containing a 2 (1H) -quinolone moiety and a substituted heterocyclic moiety bonded at the 3-position of the 2 (1H) -quinolone moiety via a methylene group is capable of producing dopamine in the brain. It becomes an antagonist of the receptor subtype and exhibits a selective affinity for the dopamine D 4 receptor subtype over other dopamine receptor subtypes, and thus produces fewer side effects than those associated with conventional neuroleptic drugs, It is useful in the treatment and / or prevention of psychoses such as schizophrenia. |
