(57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions for use in treating cancer patients. The composition comprises a pharmaceutically effective amount of at least one taxane and a mixture of one or more negatively charged phospholipids and one or more zwitterionic (ie, uncharged) phospholipids. contains. This mixture also encapsulates at least one taxane in what is believed to be a liposome. This mixture contains negatively charged phospholipids and zwitterionic phospholipids in a ratio of 1: 9 to 7: 3. The amount of taxol present is 1.5-8.0 mol% taxane. The composition is substantially free of taxane crystals in the form of particles having a size of 0.025 to 10 microns. |
