(57) Summary A solid-state chemiluminescent immunoassay is performed using a modified device. The device comprises a container having a fiber matrix and a porous absorbent material. An improvement to this device is the use of a light absorbing material as the absorbing material or a light barrier between the fiber matrix and the absorbing material. The second improvement consists of a fiber matrix of a binderless fiber matrix such as glass fibers. The present invention improves the direct measurement of chemiluminescent signals from solid surfaces by reducing the background signal. The device is disposable, suitable for manual use, or with a device having programmed instructions. This device is designed for use in various solid phase diagnostic assays such as sandwich assays and competitive binding assays. The device is also designed for use with a particulate or ion capture method for separating immunochemical reaction products. |
